Akers Biosciences Commences Sales of METRON Disposable Breath Ketone Test

Akers Biosciences, Inc., ("Akers Bio" or the "Company"), a medical device company focused on reducing the cost of healthcare through faster, easier diagnostics, announces that sales of the Company's consumer-focused METRON® Breath Ketone Test - the first and only disposable breath ketone test - have commenced through the Amazon Marketplace and via the Company's online sales portal www.metron.akersbio.com.

This marks the first of a number of channels through which the Company intends to commercialize its transformative line of health and wellness products based on its proprietary MPC® Biosensor technology for evaluating exhaled breath.

The METRON® Breath Ketone Test, part of the Akers Wellness line, is the only disposable breath-based diagnostic device that rapidly determines if the subject is in ketosis. Ketosis is a fat-burning state where the body breaks down body fat for energy. Not only is ketosis a desirable state for the millions of people interested in weight loss, it is also important to fitness enthusiasts as a means of monitoring an efficient metabolism for training and sporting events. Studies have also suggested that it is beneficial for many other health-related concerns.

Ketosis can be affected by several factors, thus it is important to evaluate your ketogenic state regularly if fat loss or a fat burning metabolism is your goal. While there are competitive tests currently available, each has significant drawbacks which hinder their effectiveness. For example, although urinary dipstick ketone tests are inexpensive, the results of these tests are not necessarily related to physiological levels of ketones, and may not even be indicative of the presence or absence of ketosis over time. Additionally, many people may find both the urine and blood testing processes to be unpleasant. In contrast, the METRON® Breath Ketone Test is simple and convenient, and provides accurate analysis of ketones, even over time.

"Quite simply, we believe METRON® is a better way to test for ketosis," said Raymond F. Akers, Jr. PhD, Co-founder and Executive Chairman. "With the METRON® Breath Ketone Test, you no longer need invasive blood draws or inconvenient urine tests – you just breathe into the device and get a highly accurate reading in less than three minutes," continued Dr. Akers. "We think this is going to make a huge difference to people trying to lose weight, those trying to maximize their fitness training, or other people who just want to maintain a healthier body. I'm extremely excited that consumers can now buy this product, and we are proud to provide an innovative solution that can help people live healthier lives," added Dr. Akers.

"METRON® has received a significant amount of interest from consumers, fitness professionals, and health and wellness consultants since we announced our intention to launch the product. In fact, it was the extent of this demand that led us to offer this product through Amazon and our own online sales portal (www.metron.akersbio.com). We've launched initially in America but plan to make METRON® available to consumers worldwide. This launch is a significant event for our company as METRON® forms a cornerstone of our strategy to build shareholder value through our presence in the substantial health and wellness industry," said Dr. Akers.
