Water sensors help in saving large quantities of water used for field applications or any other purpose and in turn aids in saving money.
According to Jeff Thorson, William Ryan homes’ president, by installing the water sensors, a homebuyer can cut down nearly 50% of water utilization in a month. This particular soil moisture sensing device can be installed in the ground, at a depth of about four to six inches.
Christopher Thoms, president of United Sprinkler Inc. stated that the sensors will monitor the moisture content in the ground every 10 minutes and avoid sprinkling till the entire moisture in the ground is lost.
The sensor will automatically switch on the sprinklers when the ground is dried up at the house, for only upto 11 minutes in a week
The cost-effective moisture sensors are not yet commercialized in the market on a large scale.
