Blast Motion and USSSA Launch Sensor-Based Player Development Products

Blast Motion and the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) are collaborating to deliver in-game swing metrics and sensor-based player development using Blast Baseball 360 and Blast Connect. The Blast sensor will give coaches real-time swing analysis during practice and to record in-game swing-metrics. Blast Connect will offer access to an athlete’s swing history, allowing advanced post-game comparisons, training, coaching analysis, and feedback, while providing USSSA with a set of academy management services.

As we prepare to open the doors of our new home at the USSSA Sports Complex at Space Coast Stadium in Viera, FL, we’re excited to announce that Blast Baseball 360 has been selected as the Official Bat Sensor of USSSA. With over 4.5 million participants across 14 sports, we have a great opportunity to help improve player performance and to showcase young talent. The Blast technology gives our coaches advanced swing analysis insights using objective, sensor-based data. We want to let our athletes know where they stand and what they need to do to get to the next level of player development, while competing and having fun.

Don DeDonatis, Chairman of the Board and CEO of USSSA

In 2016, Blast Baseball 360 became the Official Bat Sensor Technology of Major League Baseball® and research has confirmed it to be the most accurate swing analyzer in the industry. The Blast sensor and mobile app have been specially engineered to integrate video and metrics driven swing analysis, helping players of all skillsets and ages understand and better their swings mechanics, while learning how to hit with more efficiency and power. The waterproof sensor and bat attachment slip over the knob of any basic softball or baseball bat, allowing it to be used on or off the field.

USSSA has taken a leadership role in creating an environment that mentors and showcases some of the best baseball and softball players from across the country. This partnership allows us to provide the same level of professional grade swing metrics used by MLB to the next generation of players, while providing USSSA with a powerful suite of academy management services through Blast Connect. Our goal is to help athletes enjoy the game more, improve faster, and avoid injury.

Michael Fitzpatrick, CEO, Blast Motion

Blast Motion’s mobile app and patented Smart Video Capture™ technology uses a smartphone camera to record video, while the Blast Baseball 360 app intelligently examines, combines, and syncs swing metrics with the video to provide real-time, mobile video analysis. The app automatically detects a player’s swing and clips the video to develop a series of video highlights. No practice interruption or user editing is needed to experience this innovative functionality.

Blast Connect additionally automates sensor data collection and analysis with a completely integrated group of software analysis, communication, coaching, and management tools. Blast Connect offers coaches the ability to appraise an athlete’s practice sessions, analyze metrics, assign drills and workouts, and provide remote coaching through powerful video analysis, markup, and voiceover features.
