Mirador Biomedical, a Seattle-based medical equipment firm, has acquired the Food and Drug Administration approval for its innovative pressure sensing systems, which can be widely deployed in catheter injections and in the company’s lumbar puncture equipments.
The Compass Vascular Access system when integrated into a needle will monitor the blood pressure flow at the area of insertion. This reading is projected in a digital display screen and the device clearly detects whether the needle is piercing an artery or a vein.
The Compass Lumbar Puncture equipment is capable of monitoring the pressure while performing a lumbar puncture.
According to Karl Schmidt, Mirador Biomedical’s CEO, these two specific devices which are in high demand in the medical field, will help revolutionizing the commercial markets for the company.
