Miniature Humidity Sensors from IST

Innovative Sensor Technology has introduced an ultra-small capacitive humidity sensing device to its thin-film sensor portfolio. This P14 202 sensor is the smallest humidity sensor that has ever been released with a size of 1.85 mm x 1.85 mm.

The device monitors 0–100% relative humidity with a thermal measurement in the order of –50°C to +150°C. The sensor assembly is completely programmable, and the contacts are configured to achieve bonding and soldering applications.

The P14 202 exhibits reduced hysteresis and linearity characteristics by virtue of standard materials and production methodologies deployed by the company in its manufacture. The device shows less than ±1.5% RH linearity error at 23°C after the completion of one point measurement and shows only less than ±1.5% RH hysteresis between 20% and 80% RH in a three-hour cycle.

The miniature size of the device permits its applications in limited or restricted space and is thus ideal for use in white goods or appliances and in cell phones.

Wattwil-headquartered Innovative Sensor Technology is an ISO 9001-certified company and is a global producer of thin-film sensors; capacitive relative humidity sensors, RTD thermal sensors and temperature mass flow sensors.
