TowerJazz Wins Contract to Produce New Image Sensor

TowerJazz announced that it has won a contract from CMOSIS, a Belgium-based high-end, fabless image sensor designer, to manufacture a new kind of image sensor. The company will produce the CMV12000, a 12-megapixel model, at its Fab-2 facility located in Migdal Ha’emek.

The new CMOS-based image sensor has been designed for use in wide range of industrial  movie and TV, motion control, industrial, and traffic monitoring applications. According to a report, the total market, which is addressable, for industrial sensors is projected at $750 million. In this, the market for machine vision sensor is expected to be $200 million.
