Nitrogen Sensor to Boost Wheat Crops

Ag Leader Technology, a developer of precision farming products, has launched the North American Wheat algorithm for OptRx. The crop sensor can track and collect data on nitrogen application.

AgLeader's Nitrogen Sensor

The sensor measures a vegetative index reference value depending on a plant, which has the right amounts of nitrogen, and suggests increased or decreased amounts depending upon the crop strength and condition and field variability. The solution will prove a boon for wheat farmers who use nitrogen as pesticides and need to know precisely how much of it is to be used on their crops to boost growth. It maps the conditions of a plant. Nitrogen is generally applied at any stage of the plant growth. The sensor can be used to apply optimum nitrogen on the plant

The sensor uses a technology that senses light and will not function in ambient light conditions. Therefore, it will have to be used in direct sunlight. The sensor can also be used to apply nitrogen on corn crops.
