Avery Dennison Medical Solutions has entered into a partnership with Proteus Biomedical to develop and commercialize wearable sensors for home healthcare, remote medical and consumer applications.
Wearable Sensor for Personal Monitoring and Mobile Health
Proteus has developed a personal monitoring device designed for continuous physiologic monitoring and sensing. The device has received European Union CE Mark certification and the U.S. FDA 510K clearance. Avery Dennison Medical Solutions has licensed Proteus’ technology for applications in remote medical monitoring, health and wellness. Both companies are collaborating to improve the wearability and reduce the cost of the personal monitoring platform.
Multiple sensors that can monitor physiologic parameters, such as physical activity, sleep patterns and heart rate, are incorporated in the personal monitoring technology. Avery Dennison is contributing the material and skin-friendly adhesive technologies and is also developing the platform for mass production of the patch-based wearable sensors. The company will also develop proprietary products that use Proteus’ personal monitoring technology.
