The DT85GM has a rugged construction allowing it to be used in harsh construction and geotechnical environments. A vibrating wire strain gauge support in the device enables it to be used for different types of geotechnical data logging applications, such as excavating tunnels, monitoring dam walls and exploring mines. The datalogger has 48 universal analog sensor channels, which can be expanded to 900 analog inputs. It also includes 4 high-speed counter channels, 8 bi-directional digital channels and 4 SDI-12 channels. The device can make measurements within an input range of ±30 V DC and can store 10 million data points.
The datalogger can function as a standalone device and as a networkable device due to the built-in cellular modem. The dataTaker DT85GM features an integrated web server and supports USB and Ethernet. It has an automated data delivery facility that schedules the data that has been collected to be sent to specific addresses and FTP servers. Alarm conditions and alert messages can be sent to multiple mobile phones and email addresses.
The dataTaker DT85GM has free in-built dEX configuration software along with dEX intuitive graphical interface that can be accessed over the Internet. The dEX software runs from a web browser and guides users to set up the logger configuration in compact and in expansive modes. The system can also be reconfigured over the Internet. The interface provides real-time data, which can be viewed as tables, trend charts and mimics. Historical data can be accessed for analysis. The data can also be exported to other data processing and spreadsheet applications.
