Tekscan Introduces Circuit Board for Easy Integration of Force Sensors

The FlexiForce division of Tekscan has announced the availability of the FlexiForce QuickStart Board. A single voltage source circuit, the FlexiForce QuickStart Board is aimed at OEMs, enabling them to integrate the device with a prototype or design a product to determine force measurements easily.

Following the increasing demand of flexible and thin force sensors, UBM Canon conducted a sensor survey in March among design engineers. The survey results revealed that the main challenge in front faced by engineers is the ease of integration of sourced components. The QuickStart Board designed by Tekscan ensures easy and faster integration of the force sensor into their designs.

Prior to the availability of the QuickStart Board, OEMs were required to build a circuit to integrate thin and flexible sensors into their device. The new Tekscan offering now enables design engineers to complete the task in a more efficient and less time consuming manner. The device will also enable engineers to quickly obtain force measurements in their initial tests and validate the sensor performance.

The FlexiForce sensors in combination with the FlexiForce QuickStart Board can detect touch or contact; isolate force thresholds and take appropriate action; identify and measure the rate of change in force and measure the applied load or relative change in force.

The FlexiForce Quickstart Board measures only 1.25”x1.25” and requires just 3.3 V to 9 V input power. It is compatible with all Tekscan FlexiForce sensors and can be customized as per the user requirements.

Tekscan manufactures tactile, flexible and thin force and pressure sensors along with measurement systems.
