Sony Integrates N-trig Pen-and-Touch Controller Chipsets in Tablet and Multi-Flip PCs

N-trig®, provider of DuoSense® – the first integrated active pen and multi-touch technology, today announced that the company’s pen-and-touch controller chipsets are an integral part of Sony’s new VAIO® Tap 11, Windows 8 tablet PC, as well as its innovative VAIO® Fit multi-flip™ PC.

Sony’s new devices provide robust and accurate multi-touch and pen-experience for personal and enterprise users, including students seeking a natural ‘pen on paper’ feel for digital note taking, businesses that rely on a high degree of collaboration, and creative artists that require a precise and accurate pen performance.

“The growing number of pen-enabled touchscreen devices indicates the need for precise and accurate writing capabilities in the next generation personal computers,” said Jon Peddie, president, Jon Peddie Research. “We have found that above 25% of the total touchscreen portable PCs announced so far are pen-enabled, and we predict that 50% of all new portable PCs with touchscreen size between 11-inch and 15.6-inch announced by the end of 2016 will support a dedicated active pen.”

N-trig’s DuoSense G4 Series 100 pen and touch technology, that was created in conjunction with Sony’s new devices, provides improved noise tolerance for an optimal touch performance, even in the noisiest environments. Coupled with the DuoSense active pen’s advanced palm rejection, hover and pressure sensitivity, this technology enables PC manufacturers to introduce state-of-the-art writing capabilities to any touch-enabled device.

“Gaining the trust of industry leaders such as Sony, known for the outstanding innovation of its products, encourages us to deliver groundbreaking solutions that meet their customers’ expectations of high quality and performance,” said Ronen Heldman, VP Marketing at N-trig. “The active pen is quickly growing in stature from a ‘nice to have’ luxury to a ‘must have’ utility, and N-trig is committed to pursuing the best ‘pen on paper’ experience possible.”
