Bestech Australia Begins Distribution of Fujifilm’s UVSCALE Light Amount Distribution Measurement Film

Bestech Australia, the company who market and sell Fujifilm’s PRESCALE and THERMOSCALE products, today announced that they are also now distributing Fujifilm’s new UVSCALE light amount distribution measurement film.

Fujifilm’s UVSCALE

FUJIFILM has launched three types of UVSCALE, the world's first* UV light amount distribution measurement film that visualises light amount distribution of a broad range of UV lights of 4-6,000mJ/cm2 *2 using the colour optical density of the film.

UV lights are used on many instances in production scenes such as in the curing process of optical resin for attaching a touch panel onto an LCD panel and the sterilisation process of food package materials.

The new UVSCALE is a UV light amount distribution measurement film that visualises light amount distribution of a broad range of UV lights of 4-6,000mJ/cm2, developed using Fujifilm's accumulation of microcapsule technology*3 and colour-control technology*4. This new technology has overcome the limitation of using traditional illuminometer that can only measure the amount of single points UV light.

The UVSCALE, in which colour optical density changes according to the accumulated amount of UV light, enables the user to visually examine if the entire surface of the subject is equally irradiated with UV light.

Compared to an illuminometer, UVSCALE drastically shortens inspection time, thereby improving work efficiency. In addition, the flexible, thin film can be cut into a desired shape or length and simply be placed on the static or moving subject to measure UV light distribution. Thus, the amount of UV light on curved areas can now be measured.

UVSCALE can be used not only for the attachment process of touch panels and sterilisation process of food package materials but also for the process to stiffen UV printing ink and coating agents for preventing reflection and damages and other scenes where UV light is used and/or inspection space is limited.

Main features:

  1. World's first UV light amount distribution measurement film
It is a UV light amount distribution measurement film that visualises light amount distribution of a broad range of UV lights of 4-6,000mJ/cm2, developed using Fujifilm's accumulation of microcapsule technology and colour-control technology.
Since colour optical density changes according to the accumulated amount of UV light, it can be visually examined if UV light is irradiated equally on the entire surface of the subject. Compared to an illuminometer which measures single points, the UVSCALE drastically shortens inspection time, thereby improving work efficiency.
  2. Measurement is possible with one film sheet
The flexible, thin film can be cut into a desired shape or length and simply be placed on the subject to measure UV light amount distribution. Thus, the amount of UV light on curved areas can now be measured, something that was difficult in the past. UV light amount distribution can also be measured when the subject is moving or inspection space is limited.
  3. Use for various purposes
It can be used not only for the attachment process of touch panels and the sterilisation process of food package materials but also for the process to stiffen UV printing ink and coating agents to prevent reflection and damage and other scenes where UV light is used.
