ChemImage Sensor Systems to Take Part in US Army’s NGCD Program

ChemImage Sensor Systems (CISS™) announces that it is one of the organizations selected under the U. S. Army Next Generation Chemical Detector (NGCD) Program to develop a portable system for the detection and location of chemical warfare agents (CWA) on environmental surfaces.

This work will be done under the direction of the Joint Project Manager for Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Contamination Avoidance (JPM-NBC-CA).

In this project, CISS™ will first configure and evaluate its existing portable hyperspectral imaging technology for the detection of CWA at a Breadboard level and then progress the development of the system through Brassboard and Final Prototype stages.  Rigorous Government testing in each phase will ensure that the CISS™ system meets the requirements of the warfighter.  "We welcome the opportunity to show how hyperspectral imaging can perform reliable CWA detection and location with the goal of saving lives", stated CISS™ Project Manager, Charles W. Gardner, Ph.D., PMP.

"Recent events have shown us that CWA are still a very real threat in our world", stated Matthew P. Nelson, Ph.D., Chief Scientist and CISS Business Director.  "CISS™ is excited about working with the U. S. Army to provide handheld instruments that dramatically lessen the warfighter impact of these terrible weapons of mass destruction."
