The lightweight STARlite Tactical Radar by Northrop Grumman

The demonstration was held at Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona. During the course of the demonstration, the STARLite system detected individuals and vehicles in the region of interest. The radar directed the infrared electro-optical camera towards identified targets.

Lightweight and small, the AN/ZPY-1 STARLite radar system supports tactical operations. Operable under all types of weather, irrespective of the time of day, the radar has been designed to provide accurate battlefield intelligence, optimize force maneuver, improve situation awareness in the battlefield and ensure mission success. The STARLite radar features a software package that allows for ease of control over the radar functions.

The Vice President of sensors and weapons at the Land and Self Protection Systems Division of Northrop Grumman, John Jadik stated that the successful demonstration of the STARLite radar indicates the technical capabilities and versatility of the radar, thus proving to be an asset to warfighters.
