Design

The MEMS vibration sensor system was designed to be a major component used for a number of applications, such as in wind power plants for measuring and evaluating vibrations in the mast head. The registration of dynamic accelerations occurs as a result of Micro-Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) sensors that perform digitization by a series of controllers.

This device is comprised of acceleration sensors, a controller unit and three types of output interfaces. Data output is conducted by two analog interfaces with 4 - 20 mA and CANopen, as well as through the use of four relay contacts (currently 1 error relay contact). The NVA is parameterized through the CANopen interface that is not separated by galvanic means.

The MEMS sensor is equipped with a filter circuit that protects the system against rapid transients and surge voltages that can reach as high as 2 kV in power supply. Available protection options include IP 69K (housing) and IP 67 (connector/socket). As a result of its impressive vibration and shock values, this sensor system is therefore applicable for use in areas with rough environmental conditions.

The vibration sensor is equipped with a stable aluminum or stainless steel housing. Elongated holes are also available for mechanical alignment (up to approx. ± 7.5°). All electrical connections are completed as a result of the use of two connectors or cables.

*Note that the frequency ranges, or windows, can be pre-set in the factory according to the user’s specific requirements. Factory-set sampling frequency: 240 Hz. If the sampling frequency is increased, then each of the all of frequency windows' lower and upper frequency limits will be shifted upwards according to the % that was increased.
