Intel SoC Processors for Wearable Devices and IoT Applications

Intel’s Quark SoC X1000 Processors are the first product in a new roadmap of advanced, small core products aimed at rapidly expanding areas ranging from industrial IoT to wearables. It will offer low power and Intel compute capabilities for thermally constrained, headless, and fanless applications.

With its security and manageability features, this SoC is perfectly suited for the Internet of Things (IoT) and for the next wave of economical intelligent connected devices. This processor featuring secure boot, extended temperature and ECC, and extended lifecycle support, offers a superior solution for embedded market segments such as energy, transportation, and commercial and industrial control.

The processor continues being software compatible with former 32-bit Intel architecture and complementary silicon. This Pentium ISA compatible, single-core, single-threaded SoC provides rich I/O capabilities and flexibility via high bandwidth interfaces such as USB 2.0 and PCI Express and offers the interfaces for a wide range of connectivity options such as two Ethernet interfaces on chip and interfaces to connect Cellular, ZigBee, Bluetooth, and other connectivity options.

The SoC connects seamlessly to sensors and numerous memory options using SD/SDIO/eMMC card interfaces, UART, SPI, and GPIO ports.
