HBM’s recently developed optical sensor series called newLight allows large strain measurement ranges at better long-term stability. It is a suitable choice for structural health monitoring because of its quick and easy installation as well as its resistance to environmental circumstances, for example, humidity, salt, and rust even over very long distances.
The sensor series newLight’s compatibility with regular telecom cables makes it very cost effective — particularly for medium-to-high channel applications. This series is based on the Fiber Bragg Grating technology and provides optical sensors for measurements of temperature, accelerometer, strain, and tilt.
