FARO®’s BLINK High-Speed Focuser provides a much better option to work on the natural focal surface of an XY galvo pair, which happens to be a shallow sphere. The other option is to work on planar samples using an f-theta lens, which is expensive, bloats the laser spots, and limits field size.
When BLINK is used as a focusing element of a post-objective scanning system, a focal correction is dynamically mapped onto the laser beam as a function of its XY position. This allows large planar samples to be processed, with very small spot sizes and at high speed. Furthermore, the BLINK High-Speed Focuser supports 3D-sample processing. It combines a precision ground guideway with direct voice-coil drive, resulting in an extremely compact, high-performance focuser.
The BLINK High-Speed Focuser can work uninterruptedly with a 50-G peak sine wave. The ultra-low moving mass of the system decreases the reaction forces. The BLINK contains just one moving part, which ensures longer service life and exceptional reliability when compared to traditional taut band actuators.
When BLINK is integrated into Contour 3-Axis Scan Head, it provides a striking focus depth of 170 mm at a spot size of 96 µm over a field measuring 450 mm (Nd-YAG). The integration of an industry-standard ½″ changeable lens tube allows handling field applications where lens configuration has to be rapidly changed.
FARO®’s lens tube option can still be used with the same ½″ singlets as its direct-bonded model; however, it contains an additional length threaded barrel that is adaptable with industry-standard soft mounts and 40-pitch retaining rings. Direct-bonded optics continues to be a maximum performance solution and the lowest moving mass, which can be acquired through special order.
