First responders and/or the fire service can quickly scan standard venting points inside a potentially dangerous structure from a safe distance using the RMLD – First Responder (RMLD-FR™) to determine with speed if methane gas is present.

Based on Heath Consultants’ highly successful RMLD legacy and RMLD-CS™ designs, the instrument contains much of the same functionality and features as the RMLD-CS™ version but with a user interface that has been streamlined.
Often, standard equipment places first responders/fire service within close proximity of dangerous structures when they are called to address fire and major natural gas emergencies.
The operators are, therefore, able to shine a beam through most windows due to the remote detection of the RMLD-FR™, providing them with a visual and audible signal relative to the presence of methane gas.
If detection determines the presence of methane, the high-speed capabilities of the scanner enable first responders to make critical and rapid decisions in order to establish the appropriate control of the gas and ignition sources.
The instrument comes equipped with features that are sought after in a market where the use of technology is expanding. Such features include WiFi, Bluetooth BLE, GPS etc.
The RMLD-FR™ also includes these additional features:
- Color camera
- Dual battery charger
- Ergonomic housing
- Graphical user interface
- Lightweight
- Replaceable and rechargeable battery
- Self-Test
- Spotter laser
