Welding Automation - Riftek's Laser Seam Tracking System

The Seam Tracking System available from RIFTEK has been specifically developed for use in robotic welding systems and to automatically regulate the position of the welding head at the time of the welding process.

The system includes:

  • Special 2D laser scanners with different ranges;
  • Controller for connection to robot (option);
  • Software for for seam recognition and tracking;
  • Calibration tool.

Main Features:

  • Objects are automatically recognized to measure them according to the chosen template; The measurement area does not need to be set manually.
  • The scanner is calibrated according to the robot arm;
  • Various protocols can be implemented to communicate with industrial robots;
  • Noise reduction—side objects are intellectually filtered.

Operation

Step 1

The RF627Weld laser scanner is positioned next to the welding torch of the robot:

The equipment is connected according to the functional diagram:

  1. Connection between the scanner and the RIFTEK RF017 controller (or computer) using RIFTEK Lamia;
  2. Connection between the RIFTEK RF017 controller (or computer) with the robot controller and RIFTEK Lamia;
  3. Connection between the robot controller and the robot.

Step 2

The template is selected.

Step 3

The robot exchange protocol is selected.

Step 4

An initial scan is performed and joint coordinates are established. Alternatively, welding with position correction in real time is performed.


Robot for Steel Roll Marking

The laser scanner along with RIFTEK Lamia Software is utilized to establish the shape and diameter of the roll prior to marking.
