Leddar Technology Receives IoT Evolution Smart Machines Innovation Award

LeddarTech is pleased to announce that its patented Leddar® sensing technology has received a 2015 Smart Machines Innovation Award from IoT Evolution magazine, the leading publication covering IoT technologies.

The award honors organizations whose products, services, platforms and applications contribute to the evolution of the intelligent device market.

This award is very special for LeddarTech, because it confirms the broad scope of applications of the Leddar technology and its ability to penetrate emerging markets. It further confirms the innovative character of our sensing technology and its added value for IoT applications.

Charles Boulanger - CEO, LeddarTech

Many smart machine applications can leverage the Leddar sensing technology, including smart lighting and HVAC controls, smart appliances, domestic and commercial robotics, sanitary touchless controls, occupancy sensing systems, drones, and automotive ADAS systems, to only name a few.

According to an analysis by Gartner Inc., over 6.4 billion connected things, smart machines and devices will be in use worldwide in 2016, up 30 percent from 2015. In 2016, 5.5 million new things will get connected every day.

Leddar is an advanced optical sensing technology used to build and optimize various types of optical sensing devices. It works by emitting pulses of light, reading the return echo of these pulses, and digitally converting and processing the signal to assess the presence and precise position of objects in its field of view.

The highly versatile, cost-effective Leddar is being deployed in several major markets such as automotive, drones, precision agriculture, traffic management, smart homes and industrial safety.

It is my pleasure to recognize Leddar, an inventive solution that has earned LeddarTech the 2015 IoT Evolution Smart Machines Innovation Award. I look forward to seeing more innovation from LeddarTech in the future.
