Gems Sensors & Controls, a leading provider of liquid level, flow and pressure sensors, fluidic systems and miniature solenoid valves, has unveiled its new CT-1000 Potentiometric level sensors for end user applications and OEMs.
These sensors offer precise constant level gauging for the filling of tanks and also provide a constant separating layer coverage for most of the electrically conductive liquids with a ±1mm resolution completely independent of density, temperature and pressure. The ultra short measuring times in the range of milliseconds are the sensors’ biggest assets. The sensor could be used for a wide range of tanks from 8_ to 19.7_ and is built from a strong stainless steel material. It gives an output of 4-20 mA or with Hart protocol. Different versions of the sensor are being offered which can handle pressures of up to 2,175 PSI (150 bar) and temperatures up to 390°F (200°C).
The sensors are based on the potentiometric measuring principle i.e. the current impulses are transmitted by using micro-controlled sensor electronics via a sensor electrode, which is electrically insulated from the external tube or tank. An electrical connection to the environment is then generated when the sensor electrode is immersed into a conductive liquid.

Applications such as boilers, wastewater and water treatments, semiconductors, petrochemical and chemical processing and marine fields can make use of these sensors.
