Gems Sensors and Controls, a firm which provides fluidic systems, miniature solenoid valves systems, flow, pressure and liquid level sensors has introduced a novel series of mangetostrictive level sensors. These XT-1000 sensors have been developed for use in a wide range of end user and OEM applications giving great levels of reliability and precision.
The XT-1000 series sensors are made up of stainless steel and give very precise and continuous level of measurement in lengths ranging from 20 cm to 4m. These sensors are not affected by temperature and they measure liquid media levels by making use of the complete probe length. It provides continuous sensing of fluid levels, irrespective of the physical state of the media such as foam, bubbles, precipitation, condensation, temperature, pressure and changes in density.
Magnetostriction is perfect for applications that need highly accurate indications such as water treatment and chemical industries. The sensor is able to output the position of both the floats and being compatible with various tank dimensions. It also gives an explosion proof version, which could be installed in explosive atmospheres where category 1 & frac12 are needed.
Kevin Castonguay, who is the Product Marketing Manager at Gems Sensors, has stated that these sensors provide an accurate magnetostrictive technology solution, which could be used in end user and OEM applications such as food processing, beverages, water treatment, mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, biotech, petrochemicals and chemicals along with underground storage tanks for detection of leaks.
