FLIR Launches ThermoSight R-Series Thermal Imaging Rifle Scope

FLIR Systems, Inc. today announced the launch of the FLIR® ThermoSight® R-Series, the first thermal imaging rifle scope that is priced under $3,500*. The R-Series line of thermal scopes utilizes FLIR's world-leading thermal imaging technology and commercial operating model to provide a unique and low-cost advanced scope that provides the recreational hunter the ability to see in complete darkness.

The R-Series is the first commercial product in FLIR's popular ThermoSight line of weapon sights, which includes models for law enforcement and military markets.

Compact, rugged, and easy to use, the ThermoSight R-Series is a fully integrated, stand-alone scope that attaches to common rifle rail systems. The ThermoSight R-Series is available in six different models with a range of wide and narrow field of view lenses and up to a 16x magnification. The R-Series also offers automatic image optimization, an advanced shock reduction system, multiple reticle options, and FLIR's exclusive InstAlert® capability, which highlights warm objects of interest in red on a black and white image.

"The ThermoSight R-Series scope leverages both FLIR's expertise in developing advanced, military-grade imaging products and FLIR's industry-leading cost structure to attain an unmatched level of performance and price," said Andy Teich, President and CEO of FLIR. "Developing and delivering a distinctive, affordable, and high quality solution to a large, underpenetrated market for thermal technology is a hallmark of FLIR's strategy."
