Dialog Semiconductor Launches DECT ULE Sensor Network for Home Automation Devices

A power management solutions provider, Dialog Semiconductor has announced the launch of the SmartPulse, a range of IC-based devices.

SmartPulse wireless sensors can be used with the DECT ULE standard and has been developed for healthcare, home automation, energy and security monitoring applications.

Devices with integrated SmartPulse wireless sensors can be automatically configured with DECT ULE enabled IP gateway or hub device. Capable of functioning for 10 years on an AAA battery pack, the range of SmartPulse devices consists of the SC14WSMDECT, the SC14WSMDATA wireless sensor nodes along with a base station device, the SC14CVMDECT. By integrating the base station device into an IP gateway or hub product, the SmartPulse systems can be remotely monitored by the end user through a smartphone, tablet PC or a laptop.

The SC14WSMDECT and SC14WSMDATA sensor nodes integrate the antenna, radio transceiver, power amplifier and the baseband into a unified SiP (system-in-package) IC. While operating in the sleep mode the devices consume an ultra low power of just 3µA. Capable of supporting both data and voice, the base station device can connect with a maximum of six voice sensor nodes and 256 data sensor nodes. It supports the CAT-iq, DECT 6.0 and DECT ULE standards.

The SmartPulse devices are capable of transmitting 232-bit packet data in the licensed frequency DECT band of 1870-1930MHz. EU, J-DECT and FCC-certified, the devices are available in a 123-pin package of dimension 25 x 29mm.

Using Dialog’s SmartPulse sensors, the various home automation applications currently being developed include door lock sensors, wireless smoke detectors, window security monitors, lighting control systems and appliance energy monitoring systems.
