STMicroelectronics Displays Latest Technologies for IoT, Smart Driving at CES 2018

STMicroelectronics, a global semiconductor leader serving customers across the spectrum of electronics applications, is at CES® 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada, to show its latest silicon technologies and solutions for the next generation of applications in the broad IoT market and mobility platforms and services.

While many come to CES to demonstrate their latest consumer-related products, ST operates "behind the scenes" to design, manufacture, and deliver many of the key platforms and solutions that make these end-products and systems go. Focusing on the hottest trends, ST will showcase its capabilities in AR/VR/MR, Voice Control, Imaging, Artificial Intelligence, Wireless Charging, Safety, Connected Technologies, and Services for Mobility.

Augmented and Virtual Reality: ST will demonstrate its capabilities in a wireless audio system that uses high-performance MEMS speakers for AR/VR glasses, in 3D reconstruction, and in other important sensing and motion-estimation technologies.

Artificial Intelligence: ST is showcasing tools that allow Neural networks to run on its STM32 microcontrollers, as well as on a dedicated System-on-Chip (SoC) that enables different flavors of Deep Convolutional Neural Networks (DCNN) for computer-vision tasks.

Smart Industry: ST will highlight its comprehensive breadth of key technologies for smart automation and robotics in a humanoid robot containing almost 50 ST products. Related technologies well suited for security and power saving include presence and face detection and recognition, as well as multi-zone scanning that can, for example, notice someone looking at your screen over your shoulder.

Emphasizing technologies that include sensing for condition monitoring and predictive maintenance, ST will show a SmartTag with Industrial IoT Cloud connectivity using NFC and Sigfox, and solutions for drones that highlight how ST's motion-control technologies can continuously adapt to changing circumstances, in this case for smooth flight.

Smart Driving: ST contributes many of the key technologies to cars and trucks as they drive toward full autonomy. V2X (Vehicle-to-Vehicle and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure) is an important technology for these future cars and ST will spotlight its DSRC-based V2X solution and will use Virtual Reality to create an experiential 360° view from the driver's seat in the hospitality suite. Other Smart Driving technologies will illustrate ST's High Dynamic Range (HDR) LED flicker-free camera system and driver-monitoring application for increased safety.  And visitors can hear how ST automotive processors and power amplifiers can implement an Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) that can make quiet electric vehicles less acoustically invisible to pedestrians and other drivers.

The ST hospitality suites are by appointment only at CES. Show attendees should contact their ST sales representative to make an appointment and media should contact their ST PR contacts.
