Paragon, a supplier of automotive electronics components, has manufactured a sensor that can be applied to gearboxes.
It can detect, which gear the driver will use even before the gear shaft has been moved.
The sensing device that is not connected is targeted for manual transmissions, but can identify the neutral position. It uses an inductive measurement theory for which the company has applied for a patenting license. The device facilitates changing gears without difficulty, without needing separate sensors for each gear position.
