Silver Spring Networks Announces Partner Program Expansion for New SilverLink Sensor Network

Silver Spring Networks, Inc., a leading networking platform and solutions provider for smart energy networks, today expanded the Silver Spring Partner Program in support of its new SilverLink™ Sensor Network, a new approach to unlocking insights from real-time Smart Grid data to enable breakthrough business value.

With the SilverLink Sensor Network, vast quantities of previously unavailable data can now easily be delivered to third-party software, fueling innovative new applications and services. Silver Spring plans to make a wide array of new applications readily available to utilities, sensor network operators, and consumers through a SilverLink App Store that will include new applications from Silver Spring and members of its partner community as they come to market. Partners including AutoGrid, Bidgely, DVI, MongoDB, ONZO, Plotwatt, and Sentient are already engaging with Silver Spring to leverage the SilverLink Sensor Network.

Accelerating New Applications for Utilities and Consumers

Many of Silver Spring’s utility customers find that more than 70% of the data inside their entire enterprise is generated from their Smart Grid networks – and the volume is growing daily. Collecting, analyzing, and extracting actionable insights from this data, and developing and deploying new applications that utilize it, has proven to be costly and time consuming for already over-stretched utility IT departments. Silver Spring’s new SilverLink Sensor Network enables utilities to dramatically lower these costs and accelerate the deployment of innovative new offerings leveraging the data from these networks.

SilverLink software partners can leverage the SilverLink Sensor Network to automatically consume real-time data streams via APIs and add their value-added applications to the network. Applications from these software partners will also be included in the new SilverLink App Store, giving them access to Silver Spring’s growing portfolio of blue-chip utility customers and global market footprint. Utilities and consumers benefit from the innovations of a rapidly growing global software ecosystem and the ability to leverage new applications at a fraction of their historic costs.

Many members of the global Silver Spring Partner Program are already engaging with the new SilverLink Sensor Network and expressing their support:

“We have been successfully integrating and operating with Silver Spring’s network and are happy to see the announcement of the SilverLink Sensor Network that makes it even easier to create value-added applications from smart grid data for application partners like ourselves,” said Amit Narayan, CEO of AutoGrid. “Innovation will happen faster as it becomes easier to combine data from a variety of sources in near real-time for use in applications such as high-precision forecasting, demand side management, revenue assurance, voltage optimization and many others.”

"Bidgely is proud to partner with Silver Spring to bring a new era of energy applications to millions of users and help save energy on a massive scale," said Abhay Gupta, CEO and Founder, Bidgely. "The SilverLink Sensor Network data platform will enable Bidgely to use load disaggregation to help utilities transform their customers into intelligent and engaged energy consumers."

"Timely information flowing from sensors across the distribution network is critical for advanced Volt-VAR optimization (VVO) applications," said Todd Headlee, Executive Director, DVI. "We are looking forward to integrating with Silver Spring's next-generation sensor network platform to extend the capabilities of our industry leading grid-side efficiency and demand response solutions."

“Organizations need database technology that is agile, suited to cloud deployments and a better fit for the application development that we do today,” said Max Schireson, CEO at MongoDB. “The Internet of Things is a new reality and industry leaders like Silver Spring Networks understand that a new data architecture is mandatory when building a modern platform like the SilverLink Sensor Network that will transform customer interaction.”

"We're excited to partner with a proven, global industry leader like Silver Spring Networks. The new SilverLink Sensor Network enables ONZO to utilize data to power advanced energy efficiency applications and deliver greater insights to consumers and blue-chip utilities around the world," said Joel Hagan, CEO of ONZO.

"As billions of sensors are deployed around the world, companies are looking to capture more insights from the data flowing across their networks — from utility grids all the way down to small and medium businesses," said Luke Fishback, CEO and Founder, PlotWatt. "We have built a suite of tools that leverage such data to provide appliance-level insights for customers ranging from utilities to chain restaurants. The new SilverLink Sensor Network enables PlotWatt to seamlessly integrate rich data into our new and emerging energy analytics applications and more quickly deploy them on behalf of customers."

“Utilities want to see the whole picture: meters, sensors, intelligent electrical devices. Linking Sentient’s MM3™ line monitors and Ample™ analytics to a next-generation data platform that unifies these data sources enables utilities to quickly improve reliability and reduce operating expenses," said Michael Bauer, CEO and Founder, Sentient Energy. "We are excited to see our partner Silver Spring continue its industry leadership with the SilverLink Sensor Network and enhance utilities’ ability to turn grid data into action."
