The Model 3230 is one of the first medical devices to incorporate Bluetooth Smart wireless technology. Bluetooth Smart helps to facilitate simple and secure connections to Bluetooth Smart Ready devices for vital information exchange over a secure wireless connection. The low energy feature of Bluetooth Smart allows the Model 3230 to run for months or even years on one button-cell battery.

"Nonin Medical's Model 3230 finger pulse oximeter is a great example of how Bluetooth Smart is revolutionizing healthcare and empowering people to live better," said Suke Jawanda, Chief Marketing Officer, Bluetooth SIG. "We are pleased to honor Nonin, a leader in non-invasive medical monitoring, with this award."

"Being recognized for this award is a significant achievement for our company," said Mark VanderWerf, Vice President of eHealth for Nonin Medical. "The Model 3230 represents a bold, new design of finger pulse oximeters and offers the potential of reducing health costs by providing highly accurate SpO2 readings and delivering data to eHealth providers."

The Model 3230 allows simple and secure connections to Bluetooth Smart-ready devices such as smart phones, tablets and telehealth solutions using iOS, Android and Windows 8. It is designed for patients who live with diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), congestive heart failure (CHF) and asthma. These patients require frequent and accurate measurement of their SpO2 levels—the measurement of oxygen saturation in the blood.
