Flexpoint Develops and Tests Taxi Tracking Sensor

Flexpoint Sensor Systems has successfully completed the development and testing of a taxi tracking sensor system. The system was developed by the company in collaboration with a South African company using the Bend Sensor Technology.

A report released by Cooperation for urban mobility in the developing world highlighting the detailed uses and mechanisms of this system was discussed by the company.

The system can be configured individually for each vehicle and upon configuration can identify the count of passengers in each taxi with complete accuracy in certain taxis. The overall accuracy rate is 85%-95%. The single layer construction system of the Bend Sensor Technology makes it easy to implement and adapt according to the type of each vehicle without compromising on the accuracy of the data. The Bend Sensor technology is very cost effective and involves less maintenance since it does not use any mechanical or moving parts.

According to the President of Flexpoint Clark Mower, the accounting of the number of passengers in a vehicle is very important in emerging economies like many South American and African countries since these countries depend heavily on public transportation. At the same time, this system can be used effectively on both small vehicles and large buses and conveyance systems in remote areas.
