The Reliable Ultrasonic PulStar® TTL Sensor for Low Power Systems

PulStar® TTL Sensors are a new addition to the MassaSonic® PulStar® Plus Series of ruggedly designed ultrasonic transmitter modules, offering continuous and reliable level or distance measurement of fluids, solid bulk materials, or pastes. The sensors are suitable for application ranges from 8'' (200 mm) to 13' (4 m).

PulStar® TTL Sensors are powered by 5 V DC, and they use asynchronous UART TTL signals operating at 1.8 V levels to interact with the customer’s control system. PulStar TTL included all the advanced functions standard with the PulStar Plus including drop down menus and ignoring false echoes.

PulStar®TTL Sensors can be effortlessly interfaced mechanically and electronically into the control system of an OEM. They are IP68, CE, and C1D1 compliant or intrinsically safe components in an accurately designed integrated complete system.

The sensors are integrated with modern ultrasonic technology and processing algorithms, and can provide precision non-contact measurement for applications, such as process control, factory automation, tank level monitoring, or distance measurement.

PulStar® TTL Sensors have an advanced diagnostic feature that enables ultrasonic waveforms to be retrieved for investigation and displayed on a computer to help users when examining complex installations. These sensors are IP68 Rated and RoHS compliant.

The extremely short power up time of the sensors (less than 500 msec.) allows system integrators to develop very low power drain operation where 5 V DC is applied very briefly to the sensors in order to obtain distance or level measurements. This feature is significant for battery operated installations. The sensor is protected from reverse polarity and over-voltage for both DC power and in the UART communications.

PulStar ® TTL Sensors are designed with a 1” NPT fitting in a PVC housing. Constant temperature compensation is carried out to obtain precise measurement accuracy. A few user-friendly features include diagnostic waveforms, which permit the user to alter sensitivity settings in more challenging operations.

When compared to other sensors, Massa Sonic® PulStar® Series Sensors stand out because of their user-friendly set up, field proven reliability, adaptable control options, and affordable ownership cost.
