Gas Sensors From MSR-Electronic Protect Diesel Truck Fleet In Ukraine

CO and NO2 gas monitoring of 180 truck parking spaces in logistics centre.

Due to the emissions of the diesel trucks entering and leaving the fleet garage of a logistics centre in Mohyliv-Podilskyi, Vinnytsja district, directly on the Moldovan border, the pollutants CO, NO2 as well as benzene and soot accumulate severely in the indoor air of the garage. Up to 180 diesel trucks can be parked there. Ventilation and smoke extraction from this fleet car park are a sensitive issue and must be permanently monitored to avoid endangering human life and the plant. CO is considered as a guiding substance in the dimensioning of garages. Compliance with the CO guideline value is based on the assumption that other pollutants emitted by the diesel vehicles, e.g. NO2, are also present in harmless concentrations. The reactive irritant gas NO2 can be absorbed, for example, to up to 80–90 % in the respiratory tract, which can cause irritation of the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract. In order to comply with the required immission concentration, reliable gas monitoring including control of the ventilation system is mandatory for enclosed garages.

MSR-Electronic offers reliable sensors, controllers and warning devices for garages, tunnels and loading zones. The exchangeable sensor system with digitalised measured value processing, temperature compensation and self-monitoring is used for continuous monitoring of the ambient air and for detecting CO, NO2 and/or LPG in underground garages, tunnels etc. according to the standard EN 50545-1.

It consists of the components sensor board with housing (type WSB2) and sensor head (type SC2). The sensor head has an independent μController for evaluating and storing all relevant measured values and data of the sensor element. It transfers the data to the sensor board via the internal local bus. Up to 3 sensor heads for different gases can be connected to the sensor board. The sensor heads can be mounted directly on the basic sensor board or remotely via a remote sensor board (RB2). Via the RS-485 fieldbus interface the basic sensor board communicates with the GC-06 gas controller - the heart of the fixed gas detection system.

The Gas-Controller GC-06 from MSR has been developed for large systems or even for extensive connections. Everything is possible, from complex multi-storey car parks to access permissions that are switched by gas alarm. The GC-06 gas controller series can monitor and evaluate up to 128 gas sensors, including 96 digital and/or 32 analog sensors (4–20 mA). Four freely adjustable alarm thresholds are available per sensor. For alarm messages, the controller system has up to 128 relays with potential-free changeover contact and up to 16 analog outputs with 4–20 mA signal.

Re-calibration by simple exchange on site.

Calibration can be performed by simply exchanging the sensor cartridge or by the integrated, convenient calibration routine with selective access release directly at the system.

The gas detection system from MSR-Electronic conforms to: EN 50545-1, EN 50271, EN 61010-1, DIN/EN 61508, DIN/EN 60079-29-1, ANSI/UL 61010-1 and CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 61010-1.

The complete installation of the CO gas alarm system was carried out by the certified MSR partner Refclim from Ukraine directly on site.
