According to a report generated by Strategy Analytics, “New ADAS Systems: Reaching Compact Segments, Reaching Greater Volumes, More Sensor Fusion,” automotive OEMs will make use of the Advanced Driver Assistance (ADAS) Systems.
The report stated that Audi’s Pre Sense and Citroen C4’s Bosch blind spot detection system were the two systems that were released recently. Both these systems use existing sensors for adding the ADAS features to vehicles.
Sensors enhance accuracy and functionality in these ADAS systems. The data from Audi A6 sedan’s navigation system is captured by the adaptive front-light system (AFS) for activating the corner lights and LEDs in headlamps. The data provided by the navigation system provides advanced alerts to the system, thereby increasing the functionality of the AFS systems.
Kevin Mak, analyst in the Automotive Electronics Service at Strategy Analytics, stated that the OEMs are improvised by implementing ADAS systems in it. He also added that manufacturers are working to reduce cost and maximize volume by using sensors.
