MEDION and AuthenTec had earlier collaborated on the development of the MEDION GoPal P4425, the first finger print based PNA that was released during 2008.

The X4345 and the X4545 PNAs were released at CEBIT. The X4545, a 4.7-inch touch-screen based PNA, includes the SiRFprima 600 MHz processor. It provides speech control to facilitate hands-free working and GPSpro to enable navigation in situations in tunnels where the GPS signals are lost. It also has FM transmitter and integrated Bluetooth to enable transfer of MP3 music wirelessly and driving instructions through the sound system of a car. All these features are also available with the X4345, except for the Bluetooth enabled hands-free feature.

The P4445, a 4.7-inch touch screen based PNA, features an integrated MP3 player, a 400 MHz processor, a voice command facility to enable hands-free operation and various other enhanced features. The P4440, a 4.7-inch touch screen based PNA that offers FM and Bluetooth transmitter technology,  enhanced lane assistant, and text-to-speech features. The P4245 is a 4.7-inch touch screen based PNA and is part of the high-end range of MEDION. The P4245 is the best system for users who want a full featured gadget but do not require the Bluetooth feature.

The AES1711 smart sensor is a unique and patented system that is able to read up to the live layer of a person’s skin surface where the true fingerprint of a person is contained. Based on the TruePrint technology, this sensor adopts a patented surface method to read almost every fingerprint at all times, a key component of any fingerprint-based device.

AuthenTec had increased its product portfolio recently to include total solutions for identity management, touch control and security through its smart sensor hardware, client applications and software. The company, through its acquisition of the Embedded Security Solutions Division of SafeNet, has been able to further increase its portfolio of new products and IP.
