Android-Based LG Ally Smartphone with Proximity and Luminous Sensors

The 3G Android power-based LG Ally Smartphone has been announced recently by LG Electronics MobileComm U.S.A. and Verizon Wireless and is available through the Verizon Wireless Communications Stores.

The main features of this smartphone include in-built WMA and MP3 music player, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi enablement, total QWERTY slide-out board, tempered 3.2” glass touch screen with touch vibration to facilitate tactile feedback, Bluetooth 2.1 capabilities, speaker-independent voice commands, microSD slot to accommodate a maximum of 16 GB of memory, and one-touch speaker phone. The keyboard has simultaneous touch screen capabilities too.

The Bluetooth capability offers unlimited support and pairing for various profiles like instant videos and photo- sharing, remote control of visual/audio, phonebook, headset, stereo, object push, basic printing, file transfer, and phonebook access. The music player has repeat and shuffle features, music library, and stereo sound through Bluetooth or headset.

Besides these main features the smartphone has additional features also. It has five
home screens that are customizable along with shortcuts to app, email, text messages, widgets, and favorite social working sites. It is able to access a maximum of 38,000 apps from the Android market worldwide. It incorporates a luminous sensor for adjusting brightness of LCD backlight based on conditions of light. The touch screen buttons can be locked by the proximity sensor when users speak on the phone.

The S-GPS supports improved location accuracy besides turn-by-turn directions through the Google Maps. The phones offer access to users updates on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc. The phone features a 3.2 megapixel camcorder with flash and autofocus camera along with three video resolutions and five different camera resolutions.  Detailed close up pictures can be shot in the macromode. A maximum of 16GB video recording time is available. The scene mode is used for night, auto, sports, portrait, and landscape settings.
