Security 2014: Siemens Building Technologies to Present Latest Security and Fire Safety Solutions

At Security 2014, the world's leading trade show for security and fire safety held in Essen, Germany, the Siemens Building Technologies Division will present its latest portfolio of solutions, products and services for security and fire safety. Highlights range from Desigo CC, BT's integrated management station, to intelligent fire detectors, intrusion and access control systems, communication and video analysis platforms to a total solution for data centers.

Aspirating smoke detector differentiates between smoke and dust

Desigo CC integrates all disciplines

Desigo CC is the new building management station from Siemens that integrates all the disciplines in a building: from building automation (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) to security and fire safety all the way to lighting and energy management. The system is one of the first on the market to bring together a wide range of building disciplines, which can be controlled from an intuitive user interface. Desigo CC helps maximize building performance in the areas of fire detection, security, energy efficiency and energy management.

Aspirating smoke detector differentiates between smoke and dust

With its new FDA221 and FDA241 aspirating smoke detectors, Siemens will present a detection system for challenging and sensitive detection conditions such as those in manufacturing facilities or data centers. The aspirating smoke detectors feature optical dual-wavelength detection. Using the different wavelengths of blue and infrared light, the detectors can determine particle size and concentration, thus differentiating between smoke and deceptive phenomena such as dust. This enables them to detect fires early on and reliably prevent false alarms. Both models can be integrated seamlessly in existing Siemens fire detection systems (e.g. Sinteso FS20) using the FDnet (Field Device Network) bus system.

Fire control panel designed for easy operation

The FT2080 is the first fire control panel from Siemens to feature touch operation. The FT2080 was designed for use in medium-sized to large fire safety systems but is also suitable for smaller facilities. With its 12-inch color display with touch functionality, the FT2080 is easy to operate and meets the highest safety standards thanks to its EN54-2 certification. The new control panel is ideal for expanding or upgrading existing Sigmasys and FS20 installations with state-of-the-art technology.

Fire detectors to protect explosion-hazard areas

As part of its Sinteso family of fire detectors, Siemens will introduce its new portfolio of solutions for monitoring explosion-hazard areas, such as laboratories, storage areas in processing industries, refineries or chemical companies. The multi-sensor unit detects smoke and heat and uses ASAtechnology (Advanced Signal Analysis) which offers maximum dependability, reliable detection, and immunity to deception. All detectors have a unique address, which allows the location of an emerging threat to be accurately identified and displayed on the fire control panel. The EX detectors can be connected directly to the FDnet (Field Device Network) bus system in the Siemens fire safety systems (Sinteso FS20) via the new safety barrier. The portfolio also includes a manual call point for explosion-hazard areas.

Access control for SMBs, intrusion detection and CCTV

The Security Products business segment will debut Aliro, a web-based access control system designed for small and mid-sized companies. Aliro has a clearly structured system architecture, can be managed remotely from nearly any Internet-enabled device and is shipped preconfigured.

The SPC intruder detection system features integrated IP alarm transmission. The system meets the standards for intrusion detection systems of different European countries, including VdS, VSÖ and SES, and complies with EU standards EN50131 and EN50136.

The digital image storage units NVR and NVS in the Vectis iX product family are IP-based as well. They record full HD images from up to 48 cameras simultaneously with a frame rate of 25 fps and support resolutions up to 20 megapixel. The three solutions will be on display in the "Mailand" (Milan) room at Congress Center West (CCW).

Conveniently manage access rights and working hours

Siemens will also present the new version of its system for access control and time tracking, Siport 3.0. With an entirely new and intuitive user interface, the web modules can be customized to meet individual needs. Users can access Siport from anywhere in the world using the web interface, which is also compatible with tablets, as well as manage locations and persons across borders using real time communication (RTC). As a result, modifications such as the withdrawal of rights are effective immediately across the entire system.

Tetra digital radio and video analysis enhance the Siveillance family

Siveillance Connect software consolidates all the communication activities of control centers and emergency services on one platform and allows them to be managed from a single interface. The new release of the communication platform now supports terrestrial trunked radio (Tetra), which can help dispatchers in critical infrastructure control centers to efficiently coordinate their resources. Siveillance Connect can be integrated in Siveillance Vantage, the total software solution for control centers.

The Siveillance SiteIQ Analytics platform adds intelligent video analysis functions to compatible video management systems. The new Perimeter Security plug-in module can be used to monitor and analyze the perimeter of buildings and infrastructure sites; it immediately reports security breaches and allows for early intervention.

Total solution for data centers

Datacenter Clarity LC is a Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) solution that visualizes data from different subsystems such as building and energy management, fire safety, building surveillance, administration of server racks, zones and rack units as well as data storage, thus providing for efficient and optimized data center operations. Clarity LC is based on Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software from Siemens, which has proven itself in critical environments around the world.

Another highlight for data centers is the Data Center Transparent Touchscreen exhibit, which is designed to help visualize and explain the integrated solutions for data centers from Siemens.

At the 40th Security trade show in Essen Siemens will present itself as a provider of technologies and services for intelligent, industry-specific security solutions in commercial buildings and critical infrastructures such as power plants, airports and chemical companies. In addition to the products and solutions described above, Siemens will also show concepts for perimeter security, voice alarm systems such as Desigo Mass Notification and a fire safety switch that detects serial arc faults. This year's appearance by Siemens will be rounded out with a presentation of its offerings specially designed for technical planners.
