Lever-type sensors are mainly utilized for determining the fuel level in an electrical display unit. Certain sensors are grounded, and those sensors which are not grounded feature a separate ground connection.

In addition, lever-type sensors can be fitted with a warning contact to alert the reaching of a fuel level limit (reserve) and also to allow constant measurement.
