Honeywell has developed an economically viable control moment gyroscope (CMG) for worldwide scientific and commercial markets providing higher output torque for altitude control systems. The comp-lexity of earlier CMG designs and the extensive testing requirements have previously made CMGs unaffordable to the commercial markets – until now. Employing 30 years of CMG design and low cost commercial RWA manufacturing experience, the new M50 CMG performance picks up where reaction wheels leave off.
