Celsis Labs Expand to Include Capabilities for Analyzing Complex Chemicals

Celsis Analytical Services has included Ion Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) in its accredited CGMP labs for easier analysis of complex chemical compounds and materials.

This inclusion has increased the chemical analysis capabilities of these labs. Celsis is a unit of a leading world wide life sciences company, the Celsis International.

Celsis’ director of business development Marc Caira explained that the availability of ion chromatography and mass spectrometry has helped the company to enhance its obligation to offer outsourced, cost-effective laboratory services that are certified by GGMP, which in turn helps manufacturers and suppliers from industries like consumer goods, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical to focus on their dedicated testing requirements, and at the same time avoid expensive investments related to extra lab space, equipment, and personnel.

The LC-MS/MS method allows analysts to break up, measure, and detect elements present in complex mixtures. The HPLC separates the chemical compounds first, which are then filtered by the mass spectrometer (MS) for detecting and identifying the components. For additional refined results another MS can be utilized. Celsis possesses both the Micromass Quattro Ultima and the Sciex API 5000 tandem (triple) Quadrupole mass spectrometers. The mass spectrometry device can also be utilized for impurity identification, quality control programs, characterization of raw materials and so on, besides USP testing.

UV, conductivity, and amperometry detectors are incorporated in the Dionex ICS-3000 ion chromatographic (IC) system. This system utilizes amperometric detection to analyze precisely customary difficult-to-analyze materials, apart from the determination of organic acids, cations, and inorganic action. Such powerful IC techniques are able to fill the gap between gas chromatography and liquid chromatography analysis. Integrated pulsed amperometry to overcome difficult analysis related to non-soluble products of a reduction or oxidation action or low-level ion analysis having suppressed ion chromatography and conductivity identification for compounds such as fluoride, sulphate, and phosphate are some of the additional benefits of this method.
