United Microelectronics to Produce Customer CMOS-MEMS Sensor Products

United Microelectronics has declared that the company has manufactured customer Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) sensor products at its foundry.

This landmark is the result of the company’s three years of continuous development of the MEMS technology. The sensor products’ mass production is slated for 2011.

A customer microphone product based on United Microelectronics’ CMOS-MEMS technology has achieved  function confirmation with high specifications of over 56 dBA for signal-to-noise ratio (S/N). Engineering sample production is slated for the first half  of  2011 and the mass production will begin after then. The CMOS-MEMS accelerometer has also satisfied specifications of the consumer electronics application of 1g to 16 g, and attained willingness for mass production.

United Microelectronics  produces various MEMS and highly incorporated CMOS-MEMS products for environmental and high-tech routine life monitoring applications to meet the challenging necessities of today's cutting-edge applications. The company will make accessible its CMOS-MEMS technology to academics and industries for new product development, with the objectives of reducing the blockages of entry for IC design firms.
