RAE Systems, a company that manufactures easily deployable intelligent gas detection systems, has supplied 24 of its wireless Area RAE Steel multi-gas detection Rapid Deployment Kit (RDK) systems to Mutual Aid Box Alarm System - Illinois (MABAS-IL).
The wireless systems developed by RAE Systems are equipped to handle emergencies such as major gas leaks, hazmat spills, and for homeland security applications.
The wireless systems, placed in an easy-to-deploy case, will enable responders throughout Illinois to monitor atmospheric conditions. The wireless AreaRAE Steel RDK allows first responders to get to a safe location and monitor readings from a distance of about two miles away (3 kilometers).
The wireless systems come equipped with strong and weather-resistant monitor for providing ultimate protection from harsh surroundings. These wireless systems can prove useful in security applications such as public-venue safety monitoring and during emergencies like hazardous materials spills.
A wireless modem runs the RAE System’s safety-monitoring software to transmit real-time data related to gas-measurements to a base station. The base station can be used to monitor and display readings for up to 64 AreaRAE Steels. RAE Systems' ProRAE Guardian software platform is also used to support AreaRAE Steel.
