The US Marine Corps has awarded a $58.6 million contract to Lockheed Martin for new vehicle mounted sensors.
The order includes 110 Vehicle Optic Sensor Systems II or VOSS and 30 Portable Rapid Deployment Surveillance System or PRDSS. There will also be support services provided for these two systems.
The General Manager of Lockheed Martin Gyrocam Systems, Jay Pitman said that the VOSS and PRDSS provide the Marines with the war fighting capability necessary to meet their evolving mission needs. Thanks to a combination of rugged design, along with their strong in-theatre support team, the Marines have been able to maintain an exceptional operational readiness rate for the VOSS and PRDSS while operating in harsh and remote environments.
