Qorvo Introduces New RF Fusion RF Front End Solutions

Qorvo, Inc., a leading provider of RF solutions for mobile, infrastructure and aerospace/defense applications, today announced the expansion of Qorvo's RF Fusion™ family of complete RF Front End (RFFE) solutions.

Qorvo's RF front end solutions combine best-in-class power amplifier efficiency, best-in-class filtering and duplexing, and best-in-class cellular switching to deliver superior performance and enable a single scalable source for the entire cellular front end. RF Fusion has been selected to support multiple leading smartphones.

Qorvo's newest RF Fusion solutions integrate all major transmit and receive RF functionality from the transceiver to the antenna in highly integrated high-band, mid-band, and low-band placements, enabling complete frequency coverage. The solutions deliver the highest levels of performance and integration to help leading smartphone OEMs quickly migrate to 4G LTE/TD-LTE/LTE-A and Rel-12 carrier aggregation- (CA-) capable devices.

Eric Creviston, president of Qorvo's Mobile Products group, said, "Qorvo is leveraging the industry's most comprehensive product portfolio, advanced packaging technologies, and deep system-level expertise to quickly introduce highly integrated front end solutions that simplify and accelerate the implementation of multimode, multi-band 4G smartphones and tablets. These newest RF Fusion front end solutions showcase Qorvo's unique ability to combine industry-leading performance and functional density in tightly integrated form factors, helping leading OEMs to more quickly launch their next-generation flagship devices."

Qorvo's latest RF Fusion™ solutions divide the front end into three compact placements – the high-band TQF6862, mid-band TQF6840 and low-band RF8136 – to optimize functional integration and ease compliance with stringent Rel-12 CA requirements. The solutions incorporate multiple filters (BAW and SAW), more than twice the previous generation, and extend performance to include full high-band (2.3-2.7GHz) coverage.

Each placement contains a multi-band PA optimized for superior performance in envelope tracking (ET) mode, advanced filters and duplexers, a routing switch, an antenna switch, and a coupler. The solutions feature premium duplexers with wafer level packaging (WLP) to maximize performance and optimize form factor. This configuration provides all necessary functionality and frequency partitioning to implement full 3GPP Rel-12, 2DL or 3DL CA, a much anticipated improvement in download data rates and network spectrum efficiency.

The high-band TQF6862 covers 2.3GHz to 2.7GHz with an integrated transmit-receive switch for TD-LTE and associated filtering, followed by bandpass filters for bands 38/41 and 40 and a band 7 duplexer, in a 6.15 x 4.5 x 0.915mm package. The mid-band TQF6840 covers 1710MHz to 1980MHz with WLP duplexers integrated for bands 1, 25/2, 3 and 4, in a 7.7 x 5.5 x 0.9mm package. The low-band RF8136 covers 698MHz to 915MHz with WLP duplexers integrated for bands 26/5, 8, 20 and 12/17, as well as a band 29 receive filter, in a 6.0 x 7.5 x 1.0mm package.
