Utilize Multiple Technologies

Hybrid location tracking is a highly practical solution for site-wide visibility in process industries. The iTAG X30 is compatible with Wi-Fi, LF, GPS, and BLE, which means all outdoor and indoor areas can be monitored in real-time. Compared to other RTLS, the iTAG X30 system offers users unmatched confidence.

  • Decrease the total cost of ownership
  • Deliver coverage throughout the site with minimal infrastructure
  • Increase accuracy in hazardous areas

Emergency Call Button

The call button enables workers to raise an alarm if they need help, without difficulty.

The iTAG X30 system alerts the MobileView software with the location of the worker, which means help can be sent without delay to where it is required, thus minimizing the danger of serious harm.

Status Indication

LEDs positioned at the front and top of the iTAG X30 tag light up when the emergency call button is triggered.

Optional Integrated Access Control/Photo ID

The front of the tag is designed to display photo ID cards or access control. The system integrates access control with worker the location system, thus minimizing the amount of equipment that workers have to carry on site.

The access control cards with integrated DESFire EV1 technology are engineered to fit within the tag, preserving the compact form. A pop-out card design makes it possible for cards to be printed on a typical ID card printer, such as Magicard and Matica printers.

The clear cover safeguards the ID card from the harsh industrial surroundings and maintains the integrity of the photo, thus ensuring that the card stays in use for extended periods.

Practical Mounting Options

The iTAG X30 is simple to wear, with a durable integrated stainless-steel clip as well as lanyard mounting options. The lanyard and clip can also be used in tandem to ensure the tag is securely kept in place.

The tag is lightweight, compact, and can be worn in many different ways, for example, around a neck lanyard, on a belt, or on a chest clip to match an individual’s worksite and duties.

Time-Saving Pre-Configured Profiles

The iTAG X30 system is provided with seven pre-configured user profiles, thus saving the time taken for the installation and configuring process by just selecting the profile that ideally matches the application. It’s easy to choose which profile you’d like to use with the Tag & Exciter Detector and Tag Manager BD, part of the Hardware Manager.

Durable, Rechargeable Battery

The iTAG X30 features a rechargeable internal battery, developed to last through the entire duration of several shifts.

Everyday charging is suggested, but based on usage and configuration profiles, the iTAG X30 battery can last for many days at a time.

The iTAG X30 can be easily recharged: a USB charging cable can be plugged into an Extronics approved USB power supply. Users can recharge it at work and home, as well as in the car*.

Users are alerted by LED notifications when the battery requires charging, thus preventing downtime.

Built for Risky Areas and Harsh Industrial Settings

The iTAG X30 system has been engineered for use in industries such as pharmaceutical, oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, mining, and heavy manufacturing. It is 100% certified for use in hazardous areas with flammable gas and dust:

  • ATEX and IECEx Zone 0, 20, and M1 certified
  • cMETus Class I, II Division 1, Zone 0 and 20 certification pending

Decreasing the Amount of Wi-Fi Needed in Open Areas

The iTAG X30 can use RSSI triangulation, LF exciters, GPS, or BLE beacons* to determine its location.

The proprietary ELS software from Extronics determines the tag location using a complex algorithm, which combines RSSI triangulation, GPS, and LF location data. Extra configuration of hybrid zones within the ELS can further boost accuracy.

For instance, locations with several Wi-Fi access points, such as processing areas with high metallic structures or indoor areas, can be set up as hybrid zones to employ a number of technologies. This provides the ELS with a lot of information to allow the decision-making algorithm to correctly find workers anywhere on site.

In less built-up outdoor settings, such as storage yards or tank farms, the addition of GPS technology in the iTAG X30 system ensures fewer access points are needed for exact location tracking. The key purpose of Wi-Fi in these situations is to offer the backhaul of the location data to the ELS.

The ELS combines easily with the MobileView visibility software, thus delivering an exact picture of asset and personnel location in real-time.

Part of the Extronics RTLS

The iTAG X30 system is the newest addition to the Extronics RTLS series, which is globally well established for its accountability, safety, and productivity applications. The other parts of the range can be used by Extronics to design an RTLS that is customized to the user’s site and application.

The MobileView visibility software offers the central user interface, rendering it easy to view where workers, contractors, and visitors are in real-time. The Instant Notifier delivers alerts anytime workers press their emergency call buttons.

Exciters such as the hazardous area certified iCITE101 can be used to incorporate functionality such as switching tags on and off when workers enter and depart from the site, or form safe muster areas so that workers can be automatically accounted for by the RTLS during an emergency.
