Non-Contact SIL2-Certified Position Sensors from Temposonics

Contact-less, absolute M-series position sensing devices from Temposonics are certified for use in safety applications as the products are IEC 61508 and ISO 13849-1 authorized, satisfying the Safety Integrity Level 2 (SIL2) and Performance Level d requisites, respectively.

This ensures the reliable applications of MTS position monitoring devices on stationary and portable machine systems. These solutions are available in a measuring length ranging from 50 mm to 2,500 mm.

Non-contact M-Series position sensors

The integrated diagnostic capabilities of the M-series position sensors offer reliable operation. Signals are evaluated and any deviations in this are determined immediately in the sensor head. The transducing element relays the position readings to the regulating system after the performance of diagnostic analysis. Thus Temposonics¡¯ sensing devices ensure a 95 % Safe Failure Fraction (SFF) at a zero level Hardware Fault Tolerance (HFT). They are configured to meet high-performance mode operations. In accordance with the SIL2 classification of the position sensor, an average probability of failure (PFH) in the order of ¡Ý 10-7 to < 10-6 per hour is maintained.

The MTS sensors are mainly structured for safety-oriented applications and promote the operational reliability and meet the safety requirements of the whole machine. It can be widely used in varied utility vehicles to meet safety demands. For applications in mobile hydraulics, these covers steering systems of agricultural machines or construction process and crane overload devices.
