Novelda Releases Improved Development Platform for Impulse Radar Transceiver

Novelda has launched an enhanced development platform designed for the CMOS Impulse Radar Transceiver.

NVA6000 CMOS Chip for Impulse Radar Applications

Featuring a software toolbox, a USB to SPI cable, antennas and a radar module, the platform provides increased performance and design flexibility. The development environment provides the required hardware, application development tools and software required to ensure a successful product.

The module structured software for development is located on the PC side and the interface is clearly defined, enabling customers to integrate or develop their own software. The module-based architecture shortens the time required for the final product and also provides added flexibility for using different interface technologies and operating systems.

The Impulse Radar Technology has been developed to serve as a high-precision, electromagnetic sensor for monitoring of human vital signs, environmental monitoring, personal security and industrial automation. The Impulse Radar is a single chip, CMOS radar transceiver. The high bandwidth of the pulses transmitted by the radar offers high accuracy, high penetration and low emission. Although it is an alternative to infrared and ultrasound sensor technology, the Impulse Radar Technology opens new avenues of application due to its high-speed and high-resolution offering. It helps reduce the total cost of ownership since it does not require any lenses. The NVA6000 single chip transceivers are ideal for integration into mobile devices.

Novelda is a Norway-based fabless semiconductor manufacturer with a focus on nanoscale wireless low-power technology. The Novelda product offerings include the NVA6100 and NVA6000 single chip radar ICs; development kits for Novelda radar ICs; and the Sinuous Antenna solutions.
