BPMS™ Body Pressure Measurement System

BPMS™ measures pressure distribution between the human body and support surfaces – for example, seats, mattresses, cushions and backrests.

Body Pressure Measurement System™

The Body Pressure Measurement System™ measures the distribution of pressure of a human body on support surfaces such as seats, mattresses, cushions, and backrests. BPMS™ uses a thin and conforming sensing mat, which can measure body pressure distribution with minimal interference of the support surface.

Key Benefits

The key benefits of the BPMS™ include:

  • Design optimization
    • Verify comfort
    • Understanding of body shifts in a static chair or application with a moving vehicle – ingress/outgress
    • Ergonomics
    • Comfort comparison of different materials for seat design
  • Quality control
  • Competitive benchmarking
  • Marketing tool to illustrate the comfort of your product
  • Fully conforming sensor (CONFORMat™) that avoids hammocking or measurement of artifact

System Components

The Body Pressure Measurement System™ comprises data acquisition electronics, sensors and software. Depending on the application and sensor selection, which drives the amount of electronics that are needed, the BPMS™ is configured. Qualified engineers will help in the selection of the optimal system configuration to meet your application requirements.

Evolution™ Handle(s) – Specially designed data acquisition electronics called Handles are used by the BPMS system. The process involves connection of the electronics to the sensor, which gather data from the sensor, and then process and send this data to your computer via USB connection.
