Alion to Support Advanced Above Water Sensor Development Program for PEO IWS

Alion Science and Technology, an employee-owned technology solutions company in association with other fourteen companies, was granted a $134 million agreement from the Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) to promote the advancement and acquisition of the above- water sensing devices for Navy.

The operations under the agreement will bring about effective office and venture management and continuity over the complete procurement process. The above water sensors PEO IWS 2.0 contract is under the management of PEO IWS.

In alliance with the major contractor, Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc., Alion will promote the areas of financial and program management, test and engineering and validation. Alion will also sustain the sophisticated and forthcoming surface sensor systems, comprising the Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program, the Dual Band Radar and the MK 53 Nulka Decoy Launching System.

According to Kevin Lees, Senior Vice President oft Alion and Manager of the Acquisition Program Management Group, the risk to U.S. defense is evolving and the sensor technology should advance to safeguard the battle fighters and to conserve the tactical advantage. He added that functional and the technical support from Alion and their prolonged experience in operation with the project offices will aid PEO IWS in the streamlining of processes as well as improving the decision making ability.

The five-year challenging agreement substitutes two independent projects; the PEO IWS 2R Radar Systems Support and the PEO IWS 2E Electronic Warfare Systems Support and all the operations are put together in PEO IWS 2.0 contract. Alion also promoted the PEO IWS directorate in their earlier contracts.
