Wescam L-3 Communications and Schiebel Aircraft announce the initial flight of the Camcopter S-100 UAV, the first unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) deployed with the Wescam MX-10 EO/IR payload sensor. With this, one more sensor capability has been added to the successful and established Camcopter S-100 UAS (unmanned Air System).
After a few days of deployment and incorporation of operations of the two companies, the Camcopter S-100 UAV with MEX-10 demonstration was successfully carried out at a test range close to the Schiebel manufacturing plant in Wiener Neustadt, Austria.
The test was conducted to analyze the Electro-Optical/Infra-Red (EO/IR) functionalities of the MX-10 and it offered complete study of the surrounding region. The MX-10 was controlled through the datalink with real-time live imagery sent back to the ground control station.
Schiebel’s Sales Director, Neil Hunter, commented that the MX-10 has the advantages of an all-in-one design and its incorporated vibration mounts enable better integration, offering outstanding results.
