Mazak Optonics Rolls Out Servo Head for Laser-Cutting Devices

Developer of two-dimensional and three-dimensional laser machines, Mazak Optonics, has introduced a new servo head with intelligent sensors that have the ability to monitor laser-processing environment. The servo head improves the cutting process and decreases the piercing times for various applications.

Servo Head

Mazak Optonics offers the servo head as a customary device on Mazak SuperTurbo MkIII, HyperTurbo, and HyperGear family of laser-cutting devices. The newest Mazak servo technology enhances the efficacy of piercing time in mild steel solutions from 0.375" to 0.750". It also eradicates or decreases the requirement for side blow in piercing processes.

The servo head’s sensors observe the beam reflection to detect piercing and automatically alert the control to shift to the cutting process of the program. The machine shifts instantly from the piercing procedure to the beginning of the cutting process due to the auto-focus tuning feature that is carried out on the W-axis. The latest sensor technology and servo head decreases a standard nest cutting time by 30%.

The sensors also observe the beam for inferior cutting environments to sustain the cutting process. In addition, the servo head enhances the overall edge quality for cutting mild steel plates having a thickness of up to 1".
